How to make salaah in a good way

What to say when you enter salaah and after.

Start your salaah

01 Dua before fatiha

سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ وَتَبَارَكَ اسْمُكَ وَتَعَالَى جَدُّكَ وَلاَ إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ

Subhanakallahumma, wa bihamdika, wa tabarakasmuka, wa ta’ala jadduka, wa la ilaha ghairuk. “Glory and praise be to You, O Allah. Blessed be Your name and exalted be Your majesty, there is none worthy of worship except You.”

02 Read fatiha

03 Read a surah of your choice

04 Go into ruku (bowing)

05 During ruku

سُبْـحانَ رَبِّـيَ الْعَظـيم

Subhana Rabbiy al-‘Atheem (x3) “Glory to my Lord the Exalted.”

06 Rise up from ruku

سَمِـعَ اللهُ لِمَـنْ حَمِـدَه

Sami‘allāhu liman ḥamidah “Allah hears whoever praises Him.”

Followed by

Rabbana wa lakal hamd “O our Lord, to You is the praise.”

07 Go into sujud

08 When in sujud

سُبْـحانَ رَبِّـيَ الأَعْلـى

Subhāna Rabbiya ‘l-a‘lā. (3x) “Glory is to my Lord, the Most High.”

09 When out of first sujud

اللّهُـمَّ اغْفِـرْ لي ، وَارْحَمْـني ، وَاهْدِنـي ، وَاجْبُرْنـي ، وَعافِنـي وَارْزُقْنـي وَارْفَعْـني

Allaahum-maghfir lee, warhamnee, wahdinee, wajburnee, wa ‘aafinee, warzuqnee, warfa’nee. “O Allah, forgive me, have mercy upon me, guide me, enrich (restore) me, give me health, grant me sustenance, and raise my rank.”

10 Reading attahiyat

التَّحِيّـاتُ للهِ وَالصَّلَـواتُ والطَّيِّـبات السَّلامُ عَلَيـكَ أَيُّهـا النَّبِـيُّ وَرَحْمَـةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكـاتُه السَّلامُ عَلَيْـنا وَعَلـى عِبـادِ للهِ الصَّـالِحـين . أَشْـهَدُ أَنْ لا إِلـهَ إِلاّ الله وَأَشْـهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمّـداً عَبْـدُهُ وَرَسـولُه

Attaḥiyyātu lillāhi waṣṣalawātu, wattayyibāt. assalāmu alayka ‘ayyuhan-Nabiyyu wa rahmatullāhi wa barakātuh. assalāmu alaynā wa alā ‘ibādillāhiṣ-ṣāliḥīn. ‘Ash-hadu ‘an lā ‘ilāha ‘illallāh wa ‘ash-hadu ‘anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasūluh. “All greetings of humility are for Allah, and all prayers and goodness. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous slaves of Allah. I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger.”

11 First salawat after final attahiyat

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ

Allahumma Salli ‘ala Muhammadin wa ‘ala aali Muhammadin, kama sallaita ‘ala Ibrahima wa ‘ala aali Ibrahima innaka Hamidum-Majeed. “O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the followers of Muhammad, just as You sent prayers upon Ibraheem and upon the followers of Ibraheem. Indeed, You are full of praise and majesty.”

12 Second salawat after first

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ

Allahumma barik ‘ala Muhammadin wa ‘ala aali Muhammadin kama barakta ‘ala Ibrahima wa ‘ala aali Ibrahima innaka Hameedum-Majeed. “O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the followers of Muhammad, just as You sent blessings upon Ibraheem and upon the followers of Ibraheem. Indeed, You are full of praise and majesty.”

13 Dua after salawat, before salaam

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرً

Rabbighfirli waliwalidayya warhamhuma kama rabbayani sagheera. (3x) “O Allah, forgive me and my parents, and have mercy on them both, as they brought me up when I was young.”

14 After salaam

15 Istighfar

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ

Astaghfiru-llāh (x3) “I seek the forgiveness of Allah.”

16 After istighfar

اَللّٰهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ ، وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ ، تَبَارَكْتَ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ

Allāhumma Anta-s-Salām, wa minka-s-salām, tabārakta yā Dha-l-Jalāli wa-l-Ikrām. “O Allah, You are The Flawless and The Source of Peace, and from You comes peace. Blessed are You, full of Majesty and Honor.”

💞 A note for my parents

O Allah, grant my parents, Masar and Mohamed, and their parents (my grandparents) jannatul firdous for passing Islam to me and my siblings. And allowing me to pass it to Rayan, Reem, Jeylani, Aniyah, Leo, and the others to come insha’Allah.

Amiin.

O Allah, reward them for protecting the knowledge they received.

Amiin.

O Allah, give them everything they wish for.
